Anna Maria Island has plenty of restaurants to choose from when you want an evening out with the family. But did you know that there are also a lot of takeout and grocery pickup services available? AMI has no shortage of options for takeout, and you can even pick up a grocery order or get it delivered to your Anna Maria Island vacation rental.
Takeout/Delivery
Ready to grab some takeout on Anna Maria Island? There are quite a few restaurants that offer take-out and delivery options. Whether you’re craving tacos or a hefty hamburger, the following locations are close by and are offering take-out and/or delivery options.
The Sandbar Restaurant
The Sandbar Restaurant has a long history and a positive reputation as a staple of the Anna Maria Island community. Once known as “The Pavilion” (which went up in flames in 1946), this former diving platform was purchased in 1979 by Ed Chiles to honor the Sandbar’s unique history and serve fabulous food.
Known as one of the best seafood restaurants on Anna Maria Island, The Sandbar cooks up everything from Calimari to a protein-rich Vegan Burger. Order one of the Classics for a taste of what The Sandbar is famous for!
Want to pick up a huge produce box once a week? The Sandbar offers one for $30, so you can prepare healthy meals from the comfort of your Anna Maria Island rental.
Harry’s Grill
Harry’s Grill has earned the title of Best Bar and Grill and Best Burger on AMI for the past few years. They offer delivery on Anna Maria Island, but you can also opt to dine in or get carry out. Simply order online for door-to-door delivery or curbside pickup from the restaurant.
Order from 3-5 p.m. Monday-Friday for Happy Hour and get a dollar off house wines and all draft beer sizes. Pair that with an appetizer (such as Fried Okra or Chips and Dip) and an entrée. Kids can order from the hilariously named Harry’s Little Buoys and Gulls menu.
Poppo’s Taqueria
Poppo’s Taqueria has a menu to die for. Well, maybe not ‘die’, but you will find yourself feeling like you’re in taco heaven. Their motto is “no compromise,” so you get high-quality food. Everything here is fresh, local (as it is available), fresh, and organic. The made-to-order chips and hand-pressed tortillas might take a few extra minutes to make, but they are totally worth the wait. The sodas are free of high fructose corn syrup!
Order online for quick delivery from either the Bradenton location on the Northwest Promenade or the Anna Maria spot on Pine Avenue. If you order on Tuesday or Wednesday and have the weekly name, you’ll get 2 free tacos!

Hurricane Hank’s
Hurricane Hank’s offers delicious food, craft beer, and cocktails and is open for dining in, though people should call ahead. Order ahead and get an amazing lunch or dinner as carry-out. People love the beer-battered shrimp, shrimp and scallops, and crab-stuffed grouper. You can even get a blackened grouper sandwich, which is another crowd-pleaser.
Grocery Pick Up
You can get grocery pick-up on Anna Maria Island. These businesses have been a true blessing to AMI during the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to serve AMI for years to come.
The Loaded Kitchen
The Loaded Kitchen offers premier grocery delivery to all of AMI. Just browse their inventory and fill your cart with what you want. Go to the checkout, pay, and let them know where you are vacationing. Then simply wait for your groceries to arrive and head to one Anna Maria Island’s beaches for a picnic!
Employees shop for you at various locations, and you can order alcohol by completing a few extra steps. Place your order at least three days prior to your arrival.
Publix
Publix is a popular grocery store in Holmes Beach that offers online ordering and grocery delivery on Anna Maria Island. Go to the website, select this store, and start adding items to your cart. The site is easy to use, and deliveries come in a timely fashion. For many visitors, Publix is a hassle-free vacation tradition.
Order take-out or get groceries delivered to the front door of your AMI rental. It saves you time and energy, plus it has become a part of everyday life for everyone on the island in the wake of COVID-19. This just goes to show how dedicated AMI businesses are to serving their customers!
