Play Outside with the Family at Bayfront Park on Anna Maria Island

Anna Maria Island is the perfect vacation destination for families. You’ll experience clean water and soft sand on the beaches, lots of family-friendly activities both indoors and outdoors, and of course, fresh local seafood for everyone to enjoy. One of the most popular family-friendly things to do on Anna Maria Island is Bayfront Park. Both locals and visitors alike flock to this fun location to spend the afternoon with their loved ones, and it’s easy to reach from anywhere on the island.

Location on Anna Maria Island

Bayfront Park is located at 310 North Bay Boulevard on the northern tip of the island. To get there, take Pine Avenue across the island until you hit Bay Boulevard. From there, continue north until you reach the park. Parking is free but may fill up fast, so be sure to get there early! Anna Maria Island parking tends to get taken early in the day all around the island, so if you don’t want to bother with a car, you can hop on the free trolley that goes all around the island and has stops near all the most popular destinations.

Kid-friendly Activities

Bayfront Park is full of kid-friendly activities that will keep your children occupied for hours. The water at the park is great for those that still want to be at the beach, and the sand is perfect for building a giant castle. You can suntan or wade in the calm waters, or you can rent a paddleboard or kayak for a little more adventure. The waters are also great for fishing, no matter how experienced you are. Bayfront Park also has a large grassy area that is great for picnicking, lying out in the grass, kicking a ball around, or playing Frisbee. Finally, there is a large playground with tons of swings, ramps, slides, and more.

Bayfront is also great for families because of all the available amenities. You will find grills, pavilions, and benches that make it easy to enjoy a great meal. There are also outdoor showers if you want to clean off after dipping in the water. Bayfront Park operates from sunrise until 10 p.m. daily.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also plenty to do near the park as well. The Anna Maria City Pier is just a few minutes’ walk away, and here, you can grab a bite to eat, watch fishermen try for the big catch, or simply enjoy watching the waves roll in. You’re also close to Pine Avenue, where there are tons of restaurants featuring the best local ingredients, as well as unique shops and beach equipment rental facilities. If you’re in the park near sunset, head to Bean Point for some of the best views from the northern side of the island. This is a great way to finish off your day.
